Hi there and happy Tuesday. I’m so excited to be here with you today as part of the Altenew June Release. You should have arrived here from the awesome Aga, but if not don’t worry there is a hop list at the bottom of my post. Or you could even start at the beginning at the Altenew Card Blog.
Today we are releasing 11 new stencils! So lots of amazing NEW products to be having fun with! I have had soooo much fun with these new products and have 5 cards to share with you and even a video.
My first 3 cards use the same technique:
I used both A and B of the Layered Kaleidoscope Stencils for this. I started with B and used Ruby Red, Orange Cream, Warm Sunshine, Parrot, Lagoon and Deep Iris Altenew Inks with finger daubers to add the colour through the stencil.
Once I had added all of the colours I removed this stencil and then placed A over the top. I then used Unicorn Hero Arts ink to go over the whole piece. I just love the look this gives while still being able to see the colour shine through.
I didn’t want to take anything away from the background so to finish I added a sentiment strip, the sentiment is from Painted Butterflies Stamp Set and embossed onto black cardstock with Pure White Altenew embossing powder.
For a full step-by-step on how I created this card please check out the video below or over on YouTube:
The next two cards use the same technique with varying looks:
I did this is in the same way as the card in the video, but the colour bands are thinner so giving this a darker look around the edges.
For this one I used A first and added the colours in reverse- starting with Coral Berry, Deep Iris, Lagoon, Parrot, Warm Sunshine, Orange Cream and then Ruby Red on the outside edge. I then used B over this for the white pigment ink layer.
So many different looks can be achieved just with this one technique!
My second card uses Layered Dahlia A and B Stencils:
I started by adding A to my card blank. I added Orange Cream and Coral Berry Crisp Inks to the flowers and Bamboo and Parrot to the leaves.
I removed this stencil and the layered B over the top. This time I used Ruby Red for the flower parts, Olive for the leaves and Sapphire Crisp Ink for the background pieces.
To finish I simply white embossed the sentiment from Painted Butterflies on to some navy cardstock. Trimmed this, and layered onto a piece of vellum before adding to the stenciled card blank with foam tape.
My last card is the subtlest of the 5:
I used the Mega Rose stencil for this. As I wanted to watercolour it I added some repositional spray adhesive on the back before placing onto some watercolour cardstock. You want to make sure that is stuck down really nicely as the spray adhesive is whats stopping the watercolour flow under the stencil.
I wet the whole piece then added on drops of Distress Ink in Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry. Once happy with the amount of colour I left it to dry. Once dry I carefully removed the stencil.
To finish I stamped a sentiment from Label Love in black pigment ink and then heat embossed it on clear.
