Altenew 2nd Anniversary Blog Hop

Altenew_AnniversaryBlogHop_Graphic

Hi there everyone and a very happy Saturday to you!

I’m so excited you stopped by today and I’m also super excited that I’m part of Altenew’s 2nd Anniversary Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from the awesome Debby Hughes, but if not don’t worry there is a hop list at the bottom of my post.

I fell in love with Altenew when I saw the first ‘sneak’ of ‘Painted Flowers’- it looked so different from any stamps I had had before and I needed it right then and there. When I got my hands on it I then knew I needed more! So I can say I have been a huge fan of Altenew from the very beginning.

When Tasnim then asked me to be part of the Altenew family I just couldn’t believe it! I thought I had no chance of joining the team even more so going on Create & Craft to show and demoing the awesome stamps and inks ….. but guess what that is exactly what I’m doing now,

I’m so grateful to Jen and Tasnim for putting their trust in me, and so amazed to be doing what I’m doing. Thank you Jen and Tasnim and all at Altenew- love you guys!

Ok, so after my ramblings let’s get onto the card I made for the hop…..

So I kinda went for a little play on ideas. Normally a 2nd birthday card would be for a toddler so I immedately thought of my go-to baby set, ‘Baby Zoo’. I then wanted to make it more classy and sophisticated as that’s what Altenew is. So that’s when I came up with the flowery elephant.

I stamped the solid elephant all over the front of the card blank using ‘Frosted Pink’. Once covered I then created a negative mask for one of the elephants, to do this I stamped the solid elephant onto some masking paper and carefully cut around him using a craft knife. I didn’t want to cut into the space around the elephant as this would be the piece I was using and not the elephant itself.

I placed negative mask around the elephant so I could then stamp just on him and not around.

I used ‘Vintage Roses’ and the little flower from ‘Vintage Flowers’ to stamp inside the elephant mask. The colours I used are Frosted Pink, Coral Berry and Ruby Red for the flowers, and Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen. Once I had finished all of the floral stamping I removed the mask and added the detail layer of the elephant in Jet Black ink.

For the sentiment I used a mix from ‘Beautiful Lady’ and ‘Way Too Sweet’.
